Cycle transport

With a fleet of 12 minibuses and 5 trailers, we can accommodate any number of people and bikes and we can travel anywhere in the UK.

Cycle Hire

If you’d like to take on one of the challenge rides, or if you’re just visiting the area and want to go for a gentle ride along one of the many cycle routes and waggonways, we have a hire bike to suit you.

Guided Rides

We run a programme of guided rides around the North East, from a number of locations. These include Thursdays, Sundays and Wednesday evenings and anyone is welcome to join us.

We can put together a range of offerings for team building or networking events. If you are a charity and would like to organise a fundraising bike ride, we have years of experience in this area.

Our fully-equipped workshop is open six days a week for servicing, sales and bike donations and all of our mechanics hold professional accreditations.

Who We Are

We provide cycling services throughout the North of England and Scotland, for cyclists of all abilities. Whether you’re aiming to do one of the recognised challenge routes - the C2C, Coast and Castles, Reivers or Hadrian’s Cycleway - or whether you’d like to put together your own ride for work colleagues or friends, we can help.

We offer various levels of support, ranging from a simple collection and drop-off, right up to fully guided rides with vehicle support. We can accommodate any number of people and bikes, using our fleet of minibuses and trailers.

We also run a programme of weekly rides and organised trips which are open to everyone – see the Events section of this site or visit our Facebook page

Our History

WATBus Community Transport (charity number 1076729) was established in 1998 to provide bus services to the elderly, disabled and youth groups of South East Northumberland.  A few years later we were given a bike trailer – and wondered what to do with it!  Which is when we started the cycle transport side of our operation.  It wasn’t long before we were being asked for routes, programmes of training and for assistance with mapping and guiding …… and so WATBike was officially born in 2010.  Since then, we’ve grown into the recognised and respected organisation we are today – and have had lots of fun and good times along the way!

Just saved a fortune buying an ex display Raleigh bike for my ten year old son. Came fully serviced. Excellent customer service from the guys who let my son ride the bike and showed him how to get on and off safely and how it worked.
